Meg's Quick Tips for Better Holiday Photos

Meg is our expert Buyer Specialist at NiKo Collaborative. Meg is also a professional photographer, check out her photography site below:

  1. Coordinate the clothing: You want your clothing to compliment not clash with each other. Don’t wear bright neons or clashing patterns. Coordinate the colors, keep it simple. Get some inspiration on Pinterest or Instagram, find a color palette that fits your style.

  2. Get Down at Eye Level with your kids: Holiday photos of children are classics: kids playing games, kids opening gifts, kids sleeping beside the Christmas tree. Don’t shoot from above, kneeling down and getting eye level, will create a better photo.

  3. People do not need to be looking at the camera: Always trying to get everyone to look and smile? Some of the best photos are when you are laughing and interacting with each other. Don’t put so much pressure on getting all eyes forward.

  4. Stop saying “cheese”: Getting a genuine smile is not easy. So, you sing a song and mess up the words.. “ABCDEF… Monkey Butt”, funny ice cream toppings “vanilla topped with Spaghetti” or give a light tickle to get them giggling.
